Welcome to Mt. Hope!

Mt. Hope is a young and growing church in west Pickens County (just west of Jasper, GA). We are excited about what God is doing in and around Mt. Hope and pray you will become a part of this movement of God's Holy Spirit. We invite you to join us Sunday mornings for Bible Study at 10:00am and Worship at 11:00 am as well as Wednesday nights for Bible Study at 6:45pm. We are a cooperating church of the Southern Baptist Convention, committed to proclaiming the life-changing message of salvation through Jesus Christ, and committed to the authority of the Bible, which is God's inerrant and infallible revelation of himself to mankind.

We look forward to seeing you with us this Sunday! Traveling north on GA Hwy 515, take Hwy 53 West in Jasper for approximately three miles. The church is located on the left, across from Hill City Elementary School.

What should I expect at Mt. Hope?

At Mt. Hope, we invite people to come as they are. Everyone is welcome and as you look around you will see people from different backgrounds.

You will find our membership dressed in a wide variety of styles from as casual as jeans to as formal as suits and dresses. Our focus is more on the heart than the outward appearance. We are not perfect people, but our desire is to teach and show what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus. You will hear the name of Jesus over and over in all that we do, because we believe it is all about Him. We are here to worship Jesus and learn more about being followers of Christ.

Things you should know...

  1. On Sunday mornings we encourage everyone to be involved in two different things: a morning worship service and a Sunday School Bible Study. Attending both a worship service and Sunday School lasts approximately two hours. These both are explained in detail on the next page.

  2. The purpose of our morning worship service is to gather together for worship and hear a Bible-based message from our pastor, Rev. Craig Mil.

  3. The purpose of our Sunday School Community Groups is to gain a better understanding of the Bible, to build stronger relationships, and to get answers to life's toughest issues in a much smaller setting than a worship service.

  4. Sunday School is available for all ages. While many choose to keep their children with them during the church service, childcare is available for children birth to 4.
  5. As you enter our Worship Center, ushers will welcome you, assist you in seating, and answer any questions you may have.

  6. During our morning worship services, you will notice offering plates being passed through the congregation for members to give their tithes and offerings. At this point, all we ask of you is to fill out an information card that is supplied. This will help us know of your visit and contact you only if you would like more information about the church. We will not use this information for anything else.

  7. If you have any other questions, talk to our pastor, Rev. Craig Miles, or any member.  We would love to assist you and get to know you!

Joining Mt. Hope...

Every believer is called to become a member of a local New Testament church. It would be our privilege and honor to have you join Mt. Hope Community Church. To become a church member you must have received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and be baptized by immersion. You may join the church at the close of the sermon during a worship service.  Please walk to the front of the Sanctuary and share your decision with Pastor Craig or a deacon. He will will answer your questions and assist you. Once you become a member, we encourage you to get involved in a Sunday School Bible Study and to find a place to serve within the church.

What does Mt. Hope believe?

The Bible: We believe the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy.

God: There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

Jesus Christ: Christ is the eternal Son of God. Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord.

Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Savior, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.

Salvation: Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.

As a Southern Baptist congregation, we adhere to the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.
